Johnny Bench left the yard and had 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys defeated
the Guthriesville Golddiggers in 14 innings 6-5 at Bentley Stadium.
 
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings.  Glenmoore won the game
in the 14th inning.  Biff Pocoroba tripled.  Richie Hebner stepped up next
and he drew a walk.  Bake McBride then hit a deep fly making Glenmoore
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.  Glenmoore finished
with 15 hits while Guthriesville ended up with 11.  
 
Gary Lavelle(2-3) went 3 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Grant Jackson(5-4) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He allowed 2 hits and 1
walk in 2 innings.
 
KIMBERTON AT MARSHALLTON

Shortstop Garry Templeton had 4 hits as the Marshallton Mad Hatters topped the
Kimberton Firefighters by a score of 3-2 at Four Dogs Field.
 
J.R. Richard(10-8) pitched a fine game.  He went 8 and 1/3 innings
surrendering 6 hits and 3 walks.  After the 4th inning, neither team was able
to score.  
 
Rollie Fingers preserved the game for Richard, recording his his 16th.  Larry
Demery(1-5) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Marshallton offense
and allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Randy Lerch went the distance and Rod Gilbreath touched them all and had 2 RBI
at The Nest where the Devault Dynamiters beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers 6-2.
 
Devault took the lead for good in the 4th inning when they came up with 2 runs
on 3 hits.  The key at-bat was by Phil Garner who quieted the home crowd when
he doubled which was good for two runs.  Devault managed 9 hits in their
victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Lerch(5-13) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Ray
Burris(7-9) was tagged with the loss.  He surrendered 4 runs and 6 hits in 6
innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT ELVERSON

Dave Winfield lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as the Chester
Springs club defeated the Elverson Squires 7-5 at French Creek Park.
 
Chester Springs scored the winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  Lenny Randle got things going when he delivered a
single.  After an out was recorded, Randle got a great jump and stole second
easily.  Willie McCovey then reached on an error.  Gary Thomasson came up and
he doubled.  Winfield stepped into the box and was walked intentionally to
load the bases.  Rick Monday kept the inning going and hit a deep fly.
Overall Chester Springs out-hit Elverson 15-12.  
 
Bo McLaughlin(8-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Charlie Hough earned the save, his 21st.  The loss was
charged to Al Hrabosky(4-4) in relief.  
 
EAGLE AT LIONVILLE

George Foster went yard and had 3 RBI as the Eagle Eagles defeated the
Lionville ballclub by a score of 11-8 at Foster Field.
 
Eagle had 5 runs cross the plate in the 4th inning when they came up with 4
base hits.  The highlight belonged to Foster who silenced the stadium when he
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run.  Even though they scored
in 5 different innings, Lionville was not able to pull off the win.  
 
The victory went to Don Sutton(9-7) who went 5 and 1/3 innings, allowing 4
runs. Bill Atkinson was credited with his 17th save.  Ron Reed(3-5) absorbed
the loss in relief.  He was not very effective, surrendering 4 runs in 2 and
1/3 innings.
