The Marshallton Mad Hatters bested the Kimberton Firefighters by a 7-4
score at Kimberton Fairground.
Marshallton took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning when they came up with 3
runs on 3 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Gene Richards who helped
quiet the crowd when he clubbed a three-run home run. Both teams totaled 10
hits on the afternoon.
The win was credited to Paul Moskau(3-6) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 4
runs. Moskau got relief help from Rollie Fingers who gained credit for his
15th save. Fred Norman(6-6) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around
by Marshallton, allowing 5 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.

The Kimberton Firefighters and the Marshallton Mad Hatters locked up in an
exciting one-run game at Kimberton Fairground. The final score was the
Kimberton Firefighters 4, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 3.
Marshallton was unable to climb back into it after Kimberton went ahead for
good in the 7th inning plating an isolated run on 3 hits. Kimberton rapped
out 8 hits for the afternoon.
Jim Lonborg(6-5) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Skip
Lockwood gained credit for his 11th save. The loss was charged to J.R.
Richard(9-8).

Right fielder Jeff Burroughs smashed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Devault
Dynamiters smashed the overmatched Honey Brook Beekeepers, 20-8.
It seemed that Honey Brook pitching was serving up softballs for Burroughs to
hit. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 4th inning and bombed a two-run
dinger in the 6th inning. Devault kept the scorekeepers busy in the 4th
inning when they had 6 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning which saw them score
8 runs on 7 hits. Overall Devault out-hit Honey Brook 20-13.
Rick Sawyer(4-5) allowed 6 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory. Rick
Baldwin recorded the save, his 1st. Dave Freisleben(1-9) took the loss. He
served up 3 gopher balls in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Tom Seaver was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game and first baseman Willie McCovey had 3 base hits at Historic Village Park
as the Chester Springs ballclub beat the Elverson Squires 4-2.
Seaver(11-5) looked very much in control throughout the day. He allowed just
6 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Chester Springs managed 11 hits in their
victory.
Doug Rau(6-7) was charged with the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 9 hits in 5
innings.

The Guthriesville Golddiggers offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the
3rd inning and readily handled Eagle Eagles by a score of 10-6 at Hopewell
Field.
Guthriesville jumped on top of Eagle in the 7th inning scoring 3 runners on 2
hits. The critical plate appearance was by Sam Mejias who electrified
Hopewell Field when he lost the ball over the fence for three runs.
Guthriesville had a total of 10 hits for the game.
The victory went to Ken Forsch(2-3) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs.
Donnie Moore(2-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 2
walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.

First baseman Dan Driessen had 2 base hits as the Eagle Eagles outscored the
Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-4.
Eagle promptly took the lead in their half of the first as they scored 2 runs
on 3 base hits. The key at-bat was by Pete Rose who helped quiet the crowd
when he doubled plating two runs. Eagle had 10 hits for the afternoon.
Don Stanhouse(4-5) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Bill
Atkinson preserved the game for Stanhouse, recording his his 16th. Larry
Christenson(4-9) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings
allowing 8 hits and 1 walk.

Steve Ontiveros went yard as the Glenmoore Stableboys bested the Lionville
team 6-3 at Bentley Stadium.
Glenmoore won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning plating 3
runs using 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Ontiveros opened up the rally
as he lined a single. Larry Herndon stepped into the batter's box and he
laced a base-knock. After another out, Ted Sizemore stepped up to the plate
and he ripped a base-knock. Herndon then suprised everyone by stealing home.
Dave Concepcion came to the plate and delivered a single. Glenmoore out-hit
Lionville for the game, 14-9.
The victory was credited to Gene Garber(5-3) who went 2 innings, allowing 1
run. The loss was charged to Max Leon(3-4) in relief.
