The Glenmoore Stableboys edged the Guthriesville Golddiggers in 11 innings at
Hopewell Field by the score of 4-3.
 
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings.  Glenmoore won the
game in the 11th inning.  Warren Cromartie opened up the inning nicely when
he tripled.  Willie Montanez next to the plate and he drew a walk.  Merv
Rettenmund then drew a walk to load the bases.  Johnny Bench followed and he
hit a deep fly.  Steve Ontiveros came up to bat and doubled.  Dave Concepcion
was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.  Mike Anderson got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  Glenmoore banged
out 9 hits on the night.  
 
Paul Reuschel(4-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
1 run. Gene Garber earned the save, his 12th.  Stan Bahnsen(4-3) was the
losing pitcher.  
 
DEVAULT AT MARSHALLTON

Jeff Burroughs had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Devault Dynamiters beat the
Marshallton Mad Hatters 4-3.
 
Butch Metzger(5-2) looked good in relief and was the winning pitcher.  He
didn't allow much, just 1 hit and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.  Marshallton
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Bruce Sutter was credited with his 23rd save.  Tom Underwood(4-5) was given
the loss.  He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 9 innings.

The impressive Chester Springs club plated 4 runs in the 4th inning and
readily handled Honey Brook Beekeepers 8-4 at The Nest.
 
John Stearns had a big evening at the plate.  He stroked a one-base hit in the
2nd inning, lined a base-hit bringing home two baserunners in the 4th inning
and clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning.  Chester Springs had 12
hits for the game and Honey Brook had 7.  
 
Jerry Reuss(6-5) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Reuss got help from Jack Billingham who was credited with his 3rd save.  Mark
Lemongello(7-7) ended up with the loss.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 6 runs in 5 innings.  
 
KIMBERTON AT ELVERSON

In a tight game it was the Kimberton Firefighters 5, the Elverson Squires 3 at
French Creek Park.
 
Elverson was unable to claim the lead after Kimberton went ahead in the 5th
inning scoring a single run.  Elverson was out-hit by Kimberton, 9-5.
 
Fred Norman(7-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. Skip Lockwood
gained credit for his 13th save.  Nino Espinosa(3-4) took the loss.  He
allowed 7 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.
 
LIONVILLE AT EAGLE

Greg Luzinski knocked 2 homeruns as the Lionville ballclub outscored the Eagle
Eagles 7-5.
 
Burt Hooton(6-5) pitched well enough to earn the win.  He went 6 and 2/3
innings allowing 7 hits and 3 walks.  The Eagle offense proved no trouble in
the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Max Leon got the save, his 2nd.  Rick Reuschel(7-5) was hit with the loss.
While he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 8 batters in 5 and 2/3
innings.
