Reggie Smith hit a homerun at Kimberton Fairground as the Kimberton
Firefighters beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers in 14 innings 5-4.
 
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Kimberton won the hard
fought contest in the 14th inning.  After two were out Jose Cruz tripled.
Frank Taveras stepped up next and he banged out a single giving Kimberton the
victory as 140 happy fans celebrated wildly.  The score went back-and-forth
with the lead changing 5 times.  
 
Guillermo Hernandez(7-1) allowed no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings, and picked up
the victory. Santo Alcala(2-6) was hit with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1
and 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and no walks.

Jim Barr pitched a complete game and Gary Alexander had 4 hits and 5 RBI at
Great Valley Stadium where the Elverson Squires beat the Devault Dynamiters
by the score of 8-2.
 
Alexander really lit it up for Elverson.  The Devault fans let him have it for
what he did to their boys.  He doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 1st
inning, slapped a single in the 3rd inning, doubled knocking in a run in the
5th inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 9th inning.  Elverson rapped out
18 hits for the night.  
 
Barr(5-11) allowed 2 runs on the game. Randy Lerch(4-11) suffered the loss.
'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate tonight' Alexander
said after the game.  'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!

Dave Winfield slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Jerry Reuss threw a 3 hit
shutout as the Chester Springs club bested the Eagle Eagles 4-0 at
Historic Village Park.
 
Winfield had a big evening at the plate.  He delivered a solo blast in the 4th
inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning.  Chester Springs
finished with 9 hits in the victory.  
 
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Reuss(5-5). Don Sutton(8-6) was the
loser.  He allowed 9 hits and no walks in 8 innings.  
 
'He had his 'A' game tonight,' Jim Ghoulach said of Reuss.  'Very impressive
performance.'
 
MARSHALLTON AT GLENMOORE

John Montefusco had an impressive outing as the Glenmoore Stableboys pulled
out a win over the Marshallton Mad Hatters 5-4 at Bentley Stadium.

The game was decided in the 9th inning.  After an out was recorded, Barry
Bonnell stroked a single.  Pinch-runner Bake McBride was running on the next pitch and
he stole second.  Glenmoore continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.
A balk was called giving Glenmoore the victory and sending the 868 home-town
fans home happy.  Glenmoore managed 8 hits in their victory.
 
Montefusco(6-3) lasted until the end allowing 4 runs for the win. Buddy
Schultz(3-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 hit and no walks
in 2 innings.  
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT LIONVILLE

Catcher Ted Simmons had 3 base hits and Burt Hooton went 9 solid innings as
the Lionville ballclub beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers 7-4.
 
Lionville promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 3 runs on
3 base hits.  Joe Morgan opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk.
Simmons next to the plate and he laced a base-knock.  After an out was
recorded, Greg Luzinski came up and he doubled.  Ed Kranepool was up next and
he would ground out.  Ken Reitz came up to bat and delivered a single.
Lionville totaled 11 hits on the night.  
 
The win went to Hooton(5-5) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Steve Rogers(10-7)
ended up with the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks in 8
innings.
