The Guthriesville Golddiggers registered 5 runs in the 8th inning and had very
little trouble at Hopewell Field downing the Glenmoore Stableboys, 8-1.
Guthriesville jumped on top to stay in the 4th inning plating 3 runs on 2 base
hits. Cesar Cedeno got things going when he doubled. Enos Cabell stepped
into the batter's box and he stroked a one-base hit. Cabell took second on
the throw. Two outs later Davey Lopes stepped in and he drew a walk. Lopes
then stole second base. Julio Gonzalez stepped into the box and reached on
an error. Guthriesville had a total of 9 hits for the game.
The win went to Larry Christenson(5-9) who allowed 1 run in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Kent Tekulve recorded the save, his 12th. John Urrea(10-6) was the losing
pitcher.

Darrell Evans blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Four Dogs Field as the
Devault Dynamiters, running on all cylinders, ripped the Marshallton Mad
Hatters by a large 17-3 margin.
Evans was unconscious all evening. The Marshallton fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He banged
out a single in the 2nd inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 4th inning,
lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 6th inning and stroked a base-hit which
plated a run in the 7th inning. Devault bats were very productive in the 4th
inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 7 hits and the 7th inning when they had
4 runs on 5 hits. Marshallton was out-hit by Devault, 27-10.
The winning pitcher was Jackie Brown(3-5) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. The losing pitcher was Charlie Williams(1-5). He served up 4 gopher
balls in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Honey Brook Beekeepers broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out
a 5-4 win over the Chester Springs club and sending their hometown fans
home smiling.
The deciding run was scored by Honey Brook in the 9th. Willie Stargell
blasted a solo shot giving Honey Brook the victory and sending the 799
home-town fans home happy. Although they lost, Chester Springs did out-hit
Honey Brook 6-3.
Terry Forster(1-1) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Charlie Hough(3-3) was charged with the loss in relief.
KIMBERTON AT ELVERSON

In a close game the Kimberton Firefighters got by the Elverson Squires by the
score of 5-3.
Kimberton came up with 2 runs in the top of the 5th inning with the help of 3
hits. George Mitterwald started the inning off right when he reached on an
error. After an out was recorded, Manny Trillo stepped up to the plate and
he ripped a single. One out later, Frank Taveras came to bat and singled.
Taveras got a good lead and stole second. Bill Madlock came up to bat and
delivered a base-hit. Kimberton continued their aggressive style with
another stolen base. Kimberton rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.
Wayne Twitchell(3-5) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Twitchell got relief help from Skip Lockwood who gained credit for his 14th
save. Doug Rau(6-8) ended up with the loss.
LIONVILLE AT EAGLE

Craig Swan(4-6) and Pat Zachry(4-8) treated the Eagle fans to a fine pitching
duel at Hickory Park. The Lionville team eventually emerged as victors over
the Eagle Eagles by the score of 3-1.
Lionville scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Vic Davalillo led off
the inning for Lionville when he delivered a single. Chris Speier next to
the plate and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Joe Morgan then clubbed a
two-run home run. Ted Simmons stepped in and he drew a walk. Andre Dawson
was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Greg Luzinski was next to the
plate, but was promptly struck out. That was all the offense they were to
need. Lionville managed only 6 hits on the afternoon.
Swan got help from Joe Sambito who earned his 7th save.
