May 17, 1976 Recaps

Ron Cey had 3 base hits and Charlie Williams pitched 5 strong innings at Four
Dogs Field where the Marshallton Mad Hatters (18-16) beat the Honey
Brook Beekeepers (17-16) in 15 innings by the score of 3-2.
 
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Finally, Marshallton
prevailed in the 15th inning.  Mike Ivie lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'
making Marshallton the winners and sending the 871 fans home happy.  Both
teams totaled 10 hits on the night.  
 
The win was credited to Adrian Devine(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Tug McGraw(3-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up only 3 hits and
1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings.

Bob Apodaca had an impressive outing as the Guthriesville Golddiggers (10-22)
bested the Devault Dynamiters (15-16) in 12 innings 8-7 at Hopewell Field.
 
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings.  Guthriesville was
victorious in the 12th inning.  Keith Hernandez was hit by a pitch.  Two outs
later Enos Cabell stepped up to the plate and he ripped a single giving
Guthriesville the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.
Guthriesville rapped out 13 hits for the night.  
 
Apodaca(2-1) allowed 1 run in 4 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
The losing pitcher was Butch Metzger(1-1) in relief.  He pitched 1 inning and
surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk.
 
Wth the win Guthriesville now has a record of 10-22.  Not able to get much
going in recent weeks, Devault is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record
of 15-16.
