Earl Williams jacked one out of the ballyard as the Eagle Eagles (15-15) bested the
Honey Brook Beekeepers (16-13) 4-2 at The Nest.
Don Sutton(4-1) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give up
much, just 6 hits and 1 walk in 8 and 2/3 innings. Sutton struck out 9 Honey
Brook batters. Eagle out-hit Honey Brook for the game, 12 hits to 6.
Randy Moffitt was credited with his 10th save. The loss was charged to Bob
Knepper(0-1). He allowed 8 hits and 1 walk in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Roy Staiger touched them all and had 3 RBI at Great Valley Stadium where the
Glenmoore Stableboys (13-14) beat the Devault Dynamiters (14-14) 7-4.
The Devault fans didn't appreciate the big day Staiger had. He ripped a
base-hit in the 1st inning, ripped a solo home run in the 6th inning and
doubled bringing home two baserunners in the 7th inning. Glenmoore had 8
hits for the night.
The win was credited to Frank Lacorte(2-1) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Lacorte got help from Dennis Lewallyn who was credited with his 1st
save. Rick Sawyer(0-3) was given the loss. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 7 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Catcher John Stearns slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at Historic Village Park
where the Chester Springs (15-15) club beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers (8-20)
in 10 innings by the score of 4-3.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Finally, Chester
Springs pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Hector Cruz doubled. After
an out was recorded, Dave Winfield stepped in and he doubled giving Chester
Springs the victory as 22 happy fans celebrated wildly. Chester Springs
totaled 7 hits on the night.
Joe Niekro(3-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Andy
Messersmith(1-4) absorbed the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 6 hits in 9
innings.
MARSHALLTON AT ELVERSON

Steve Garvey hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI at French Creek Park as the
Elverson Squires (15-14) beat the Marshallton Mad Hatters (14-16)
by the count of 8-3.
The Elverson fans enjoyed the offense provided by Garvey. He smashed a
two-run homer in the 1st inning, tripled in the 5th inning and doubled
bringing in a run in the 6th inning. Overall Elverson out-hit Marshallton 11
to 4.
The victory was credited to Ed Halicki(2-3) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. The losing pitcher was J.R. Richard(3-3). He got hit pretty
hard, allowing 11 hits and 6 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

John Candelaria went 7 strong innings at Kimberton Fairground as the Kimberton
Firefighters (13-15) beat the Lionville (21-8) ballclub 5-1.
Candelaria(4-0) earned his pay with a solid performance for Kimberton. He
went 7 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 walk. Kimberton finished with 10 hits
while Lionville ended up with 5.
Burt Hooton(4-2) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 5 runs and 7 hits in 6 and
2/3 innings.
