Right fielder Dan Driessen blasted 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at The Nest where
the Eagle Eagles (16-15) beat the Honey Brook Beekeepers (16-14) by the
score of 10-5.
Driessen provided the offensive punch. He hit a bases-empty home run in the
3rd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 4th inning.
Eagle had 18 hits overall, while Honey Brook had 11.
The win was credited to Rick Reuschel(3-2) who went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing
5 runs. Ray Burris(2-3) was the losing pitcher. He got hammered, allowing 8
hits and 2 walks in 2 innings.
GLENMOORE AT DEVAULT

Jon Matlack went 9 solid innings as the Devault Dynamiters (15-14)
defeated the Glenmoore Stableboys (13-15) by the score of 5-0 at Great Valley
Stadium.
Matlack(4-1) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Glenmoore
hitters. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings
improving his ERA from 2.00 to 1.67. Devault had 9 hits for the afternoon.
John Montefusco(3-3) took the loss. He allowed 8 hits and 4 walks in 7 and
2/3 innings.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT CHESTER SPRINGS

Jose Cardenal launched 2 homeruns and scored 3 times at Historic Village Park
as the Chester Springs (16-15) ballclub beat the Guthriesville
Golddiggers (8-21) by the count of 7-4.
The Chester Springs fans enjoyed the offense provided by Cardenal. He ripped
a solo home run in the 1st inning, lined a one-base hit in the 5th inning,
delivered a solo blast in the 6th inning and ripped a single in the 8th
inning. Chester Springs kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they
scored in 6 different innings.
Jack Billingham(1-3) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 5 innings. Billingham
got help from Joe Niekro who was credited with his 2nd save. Larry
Dierker(1-5) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 4 homeruns in 7 and 1/3
innings of work.
MARSHALLTON AT ELVERSON

Doug Flynn had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Marshallton Mad Hatters (15-16) crushed
the Elverson Squires (15-15) 12-2.
Elverson never recovered after Marshallton took the lead in the top of the 2nd
inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by Flynn who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he slapped a
base-hit bringing home two baserunners. Marshallton had 19 hits for the
afternoon while Elverson had 5.
Gary Nolan(2-3) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Jim Barr(3-3) ended up with the loss. Marshallton knocked him around a bit,
as he gave up 9 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Wth the win Marshallton now has a record of 15-16. With this loss, Elverson
has a 6-4 record of late, 15-15 overall.
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

Homeruns- L.Roberts(3rd)
Leon Roberts had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Randy Jones was on top of his game,
blanking Kimberton on just 3 hits as the Lionville (22-8) club destroyed
the Kimberton Firefighters (13-16) by a score of 13-0 at Kimberton
Fairground.
Roberts provided much of the offense. He blasted a two-run home run in the
2nd inning, slapped a single in the 3rd inning, lined a one-base hit in the
8th inning and banged out a single plating a run in the 9th inning.
Lionville kept the scorekeepers busy in the 2nd inning which saw them score 4
runs on 6 hits and the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits. Lionville
finished with 20 hits in the victory.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Jones(7-0). Fred Norman(0-4) was
charged with the loss. He was touched for 10 hits and 4 walks in 2 and 1/3
innings.
Jones was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the
game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt
great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope
that I can do it again next time out!'
