Gary Carter ripped 2 homeruns at Great Valley Stadium where the Devault
Dynamiters beat the Chester Springs team 5-2.
 
Devault scored 3 runs in the 4th inning with the help of 3 hits.  The key
offensive moment was provided by Rod Gilbreath who excited the crowd when he
doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Despite losing, Chester Springs out-hit
Devault 10-5.  
 
Tommy John(8-5) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. John
was helped out by Bruce Sutter who recorded his 16th save.  Jim Rooker(6-5)
was the loser.  
 
HONEY BROOK AT GLENMOORE, 1st

The Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the Honey Brook Beekeepers 8-5 at Bentley 
Stadium.
 
Glenmoore took the lead for keeps in the 5th inning as they scored 3 runs on 2
base hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Warren Cromartie who
electrified Bentley Stadium when he tripled plating two runs.  Glenmoore had
8 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Bill Bonham(7-6) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Bonham
got relief help from Gene Garber who gained credit for his 8th save.  Dave
Freisleben(1-7) took the loss.

Bake McBride had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys defeated the
Honey Brook Beekeepers in 10 innings 5-4 at Bentley Stadium.
 
The score was tied at 4 after nine.  Glenmoore came out the victor in the 10th
inning.  Johnny Bench drew a walk.  Richie Hebner got his turn next, but he
was a strikeout victim.  Willie Montanez then delivered a base-hit.  Biff
Pocoroba came up and he drew a walk to load the bases.  John Hale got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  Dave Concepcion
contributed to the rally and laced a single giving Glenmoore the win and
sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  Glenmoore had 16 hits overall,
while Honey Brook had 7.  
 
The winning pitcher was Gene Garber(4-1) who allowed 1 run in 2 and 1/3
innings. Pete Falcone(0-2) suffered the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run
and 2 hits in 1 inning.
 
KIMBERTON AT EAGLE

George Foster had 2 base hits at Hickory Park as the Eagle Eagles beat the
Kimberton Firefighters 3-2.
 
In the bottom of the 2nd inning Eagle scored 2 runs.  The pitchers took over
after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.  
 
Pat Zachry(3-6) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Randy
Moffitt got the save, his 3rd.  Eric Rasmussen(5-5) ended up with the loss.
He gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.  
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

Bob Shirley pitched a 2 hit shutout as the Marshallton Mad Hatters defeated
the Guthriesville Golddiggers 2-0 at Four Dogs Field.
 
Shirley(8-3) was tremendous on the mound for Marshallton.  He was stingy on
the mound, allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA to
2.60.  Marshallton finished with just 6 hits in the victory.  
 
Larry Christenson(3-8) absorbed the loss.  He surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks
in 7 innings.  'Shirley was the man tonight,' John Young said.  'He had just
about every pitch working.'

The Elverson Squires plated 4 runs in the 4th inning and readily handled
Lionville club 8-4 at Foster Field.
 
Elverson took the lead off Craig Swan in the first inning when they scored 4
runs on 3 hits.  Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the night.  
 
The victory went to Ed Halicki(6-6) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs. Mike
Garman earned his 11th save.  Swan(3-4) was the losing pitcher.  He was hit
hard and gave up 6 hits and 5 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
