In a good matchup it was the Glenmoore Stableboys 6, the Chester Springs
ballclub 4 at Bentley Stadium.
 
Glenmoore took the lead for good in the 7th inning plating one baserunner.
After two outs Johnny Bench smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'.  Glenmoore had
12 hits for the afternoon.  
 
John Urrea(8-2) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Gene Garber
preserved the game for Urrea, recording his his 7th.  Phil Niekro(7-4) was
tagged with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 11 hits and 2 walks in 7
and 1/3 innings.

Ron Cey homered and had 3 RBI at Hickory Park as the Marshallton Mad Hatters
beat the Eagle Eagles 5-4.
 
Marshallton came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 8th inning
scoring 3 runs on 3 hits.  After an out was recorded, Doug Flynn initiated
the scoring spurt when he drew a walk.  Ken Griffey was next and he stroked a
one-base hit.  Cey then rifled a three-run blast.  One out later, Steve
Yeager came to the plate and doubled.  Bill Buckner stepped into the box and
was walked intentionally.  Buddy Schultz, after tossing a perfect ninth, was
credited with his 4th save.  
 
Rawly Eastwick(2-3) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 3 innings. Bill
Atkinson(4-6) was hit with the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 3 hits
in 1 and 2/3 innings.

In a game at Hickory Park the Eagle Eagles got by the Marshallton Mad Hatters 4-1.
 
Mike Krukow(1-2) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win.  He was
reached for 6 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings improving his ERA from
4.73 to 4.50.  Krukow got help from Dick Ruthven who pitched great and earned
his 5th save.  
 
Paul Moskau(2-4) absorbed the loss.  He gave up 3 runs and 7 hits in 5 and 1/3
innings.
 
 
DEVAULT AT GUTHRIESVILLE

Larry Parrish hit a homerun and Tommy John went the distance at Hopewell Field
where the Devault Dynamiters beat the Guthriesville Golddiggers 5-1.
 
The game started off with Devault taking the lead in the first when they
scored 2 runs on 3 hits.  That early run support was enough for John(7-5) and
Devault.  Devault had a total of 11 hits for the game.  
 
Larry Christenson(3-7) was the loser.

Left fielder Al Oliver had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Elverson Squires outscored
the Honey Brook Beekeepers 7-5.
 
Oliver provided much of the offense.  He lined a one-base hit knocking in a
run in the 2nd inning, lined a base-hit which scored a run in the 4th inning,
smacked a three-run homer in the 6th inning and slapped a single in the 8th
inning.  Elverson ended up with 13 hits for the game while Honey Brook had 6.
 
The victory was credited to Bob Forsch(5-4) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Mike Garman earned his 10th save.  Pete Falcone(0-1) was
charged with the loss.  He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 3
walks.
 
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE, 1st

In an entertaining game at Foster Field the final score was the Lionville team
6, the Kimberton Firefighters 3 in 16 innings.
 
The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Lionville came out on top in the 16th
inning.  After an out was recorded, Vic Davalillo started the attack as he
drew a walk.  Andre Dawson came next and he banged out a single.  Davey
Johnson then lofted a three-run bomb giving Lionville the victory as 962
happy fans celebrated wildly.  Lionville rapped out 11 hits for the
afternoon.  
 
The win was credited to Terry Cornutt(2-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing
no runs. The losing pitcher was Larry Demery(1-4) in relief.  
 
 
KIMBERTON AT LIONVILLE, 2nd

The Kimberton Firefighters defeated the Lionville club 4-1 at Foster Field.
 
Kimberton claimed the early lead in the first inning plating an isolated run.
Both teams ended up with 7 hits on the afternoon.  
 
The winning pitcher was John Candelaria(8-4) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings.
Candelaria was helped out by Guillermo Hernandez who recorded his 3rd save.
Max Leon(3-3) absorbed the loss.
