It was a laugher out at Bentley Stadium.  The Glenmoore Stableboys squad
ripped Devault pitching for a total of 9 runs.  John Urrea(9-2), with relief
help from Paul Reuschel, held Devault to 1 run.
 
Glenmoore claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 4 runs on
3 base hits.  That early scoring was all that Urrea needed.  For the game
Glenmoore out-hit Devault 12-8.  
 
Randy Lerch(2-10) was hit with the loss.  He was touched for 11 hits and 4
walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
 
ELVERSON AT EAGLE

Dave Parker had 4 hits as the Eagle Eagles won at Hickory Park in dramatic
fashion over the Elverson Squires, 5-4.
 
Eagle won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Bud Harrelson
ripped a one-base hit.  Omar Moreno was next and he grounded into a double
play.  Pete Rose then singled.  George Foster followed and he stroked a
base-hit.  Parker came to the plate and slapped a one-base hit making Eagle
the winners and sending the 1,377 fans home happy.  Overall Eagle out-hit
Elverson 15-12.  
 
Gene Pentz(5-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Mike Garman(6-4)
suffered the loss in relief.  He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 3
hits and no walks.
 
KIMBERTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

214 fans watched an exciting game at Hopewell Field.  The Guthriesville
Golddiggers topped the Kimberton Firefighters, 8-7.
 
Both teams had scored 6 runs after nine full innings.  Guthriesville won the
hard fought contest in the 13th inning.  Manny Mota led off and keyed the
rally when he drew a walk.  Two outs later Cesar Cedeno came up and he drew a
walk.  Enos Cabell then doubled giving Guthriesville the win as 214 happy
fans joyfully celebrated.  The game was a wild affair with the lead changing
hands 6 times.  
 
Ken Forsch(1-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Skip Lockwood(3-3) ended up with the loss in relief.
 
'Everything seemed to click tonight,' Cabell said 'if it could only be this
easy all the time!'
 
HONEY BROOK AT MARSHALLTON

Rowland Office hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI and J.R. Richard pitched a
complete game as the Marshallton Mad Hatters pulled out a win over the Honey
Brook Beekeepers 5-4 at Four Dogs Field.
 
The game was won by Marshallton when they scored a run in the bottom of the
9th inning.  Bill Buckner drew a walk.  Art Howe came next and he reached on
an error.  After an out was recorded, Office came to bat and slapped a single
giving Marshallton the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.
Both teams ended up with 7 hits on the night.  
 
The win went to Richard(6-6) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Santo Alcala(2-5)
was the losing pitcher in relief.  He was the victim of a defensive lapse and
did not allow an earned run in the game.  
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT LIONVILLE

988 fans were treated to a fine game at Foster Field as only one run separated
the combatants at game's end.  The Chester Springs club won, 9-8, over Lionville.
 
Joe Niekro(8-1) struggled but was good enough to win with the help of some
fine defensive plays.  He gave up 8 runs, 13 hits and 2 walks in 8 and 2/3
innings and served up 2 'big flies'.  Lionville had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.  
 
Charlie Hough gained credit for his 16th save.  Bruce Kison(4-5) took the
loss.  He gave up 5 runs and 5 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
