Left fielder Gary Carter went deep as the Devault Dynamiters defeated the
Chester Springs ballclub 7-6 at Great Valley Stadium.
Devault won the game with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Tim McCarver
doubled. After an out was recorded, Tony Perez stepped up to the plate and
he lined a base-hit. Rod Gilbreath struck out, unable to help the rally.
Bruce Sutter came throught with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 15th save.
The win went to Tom Griffin(5-2) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Bo
McLaughlin(5-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and
no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Jay Johnstone jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI and Jerry Koosman
reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at Bentley Stadium where the Honey Brook
Beekeepers beat the Glenmoore Stableboys 4-2.
Koosman(6-6) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed only 3
hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. Honey Brook had a total of 7 hits for
the game.
Dave Campbell was credited with his 5th save. Bob Owchinko(4-5) was the
loser. Barry Bentley was impressed with Koosman and his 10 strikeouts.
'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'

Left fielder George Foster connected with a 'big fly' as the Eagle Eagles
defeated the Kimberton Firefighters by a score of 5-3 at Hickory Park.
Eagle came up with 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they had 4 base
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Felix Millan who brought the crowd
to their feet when he rifled a three-run blast. Eagle rapped out 8 hits for
the night.
Don Sutton(7-4) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Sutton got help from Bill Atkinson who was credited with his 12th save. John
Candelaria(8-5) was charged with the loss.
GUTHRIESVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

Ron Cey blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Marshallton Mad Hatters
defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers 9-7 at Four Dogs Field.
Marshallton scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 8th inning when
they came up with 5 runs on 5 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Garry
Templeton who brought a roar from the partisan Four Dogs Field fans when he
ripped a base-hit plating two runs. Marshallton had 15 hits for the night
while Guthriesville had 11.
Jackson Todd(1-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Buddy
Schultz earned his 5th save. Kent Tekulve(2-7) took the loss in relief.

Burt Hooton blanked Elverson in a very well-pitched complete game at Foster
Field as the Lionville club beat the Elverson Squires 4-0.
Hooton(3-4) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give up much,
just 5 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 4.61 to 4.15.
Lionville banged out 7 hits on the night.
Nino Espinosa(3-3) was given the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up 7 hits
and 1 walk.
