Tucker Ashford ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Kimberton Firefighters
beat the Glenmoore Stableboys 8-6.
Ashford enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He smashed a solo-shot out of the
park in the 3rd inning and blasted a two-run home run in the 4th inning.
Glenmoore made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
The victory was credited to Fred Norman(5-3) who went 8 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Norman got relief help from Skip Lockwood who gained credit
for his 8th save. Bill Bonham(6-6) took the loss. He gave up 6 runs in 3
and 1/3 innings of work.
'He gutted it out' Rich Pawlak said of Norman. 'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'

Joe Niekro completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Chester
Springs team outscored the reeling Guthriesville Golddiggers 9-4.
Niekro(7-1) gave Chester Springs a solid outing. He surrendered 10 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings. Chester Springs totaled 11 hits on the night.
The losing pitcher was Stan Bahnsen(4-2). Chester Springs knocked him around
a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

The Honey Brook Beekeepers got by the Eagle Eagles at The Nest. The final
score was 5-3.
Honey Brook brought 2 runs across the plate in the 5th inning. The big moment
was provided by Dusty Baker who brought a roar from the partisan The Nest
fans when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Although they lost, Eagle
did out-hit Honey Brook 10-7.
Mark Lemongello(6-6) allowed 3 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Dave Campbell was credited with his 3rd save. Don Stanhouse(3-3)
was the losing pitcher.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Lemongello, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'

In a game at French Creek Park the Elverson Squires got by the Marshallton Mad
Hatters 5-2.
Elverson came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 2
base hits. Tim Foli led off and started the rally when he lined a one-base
hit. Lee Mazzilli followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. One out
later, Steve Garvey came to the plate and reached on an error. Mike Schmidt
followed next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Al Oliver came up to bat
and doubled. Elverson had 10 hits for the afternoon.
The victory went to Dave Heaverlo(5-1) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Steve Renko(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. He was knocked around,
surrendering 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
DEVAULT AT LIONVILLE

Left fielder Greg Luzinski rocketed 2 homeruns as the Lionville ballclub
bested the Devault Dynamiters 10-4 at Foster Field.
Randy Jones(4-4) was solid if not spectacular. He went 6 and 1/3 innings and
surrended up 8 hits and no walks. Lionville finished with 14 hits while
Devault ended up with 9.
Rick Sawyer(2-4) ended up with the loss.
