In a tight game it was the Kimberton Firefighters 5, the Guthriesville
Golddiggers 3 in 12 innings at Kimberton Fairground.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Kimberton won the game in the
12th inning. After two were out George Mitterwald began the rally when he
slapped a one-base hit. George Hendrick stepped up to the plate and he
cracked a two-run shot making Kimberton victorious to the delight of the the
home town crowd. Kimberton had 10 hits for the night.
Guillermo Hernandez(4-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3
innings and allowing no runs. Kent Tekulve(2-6) was charged with the loss in
relief.

At Kimberton Fairground the Kimberton Firefighters easily handled the
Guthriesville Golddiggers 9-5.
In the bottom of the 6th inning Kimberton went on top for good as they scored
2 runs on 2 base hits. The key at-bat was by Bill Madlock who electrified
Kimberton Fairground when he clubbed a two-run home run. Guthriesville tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Guillermo Hernandez(5-1) went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win.
Skip Lockwood preserved the game for Hernandez, recording his his 6th. Clay
Carroll(4-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.

Del Unser had 2 base hits as the Devault Dynamiters outscored the Glenmoore
Stableboys 5-3.
Devault had the game winning rally in the 8th inning plating 3 runs using 3
hits. After an out was recorded, Darrell Evans started the attack as he
stroked a one-base hit. De Jesus was safe at second on a stolen base. Unser
then delivered a single. One out later, Bill Robinson came to bat and
cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Gary Carter was next to the
plate, but was promptly struck out. Glenmoore was set down quietly in the
9th.
The winning pitcher was Butch Metzger(3-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Gene Garber(3-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 2/3
of an inning and surrendered 2 hits and no walks.

One run was the difference at The Nest as the Honey Brook Beekeepers defeated
the Marshallton Mad Hatters 4-3.
Honey Brook brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning
when they came up with 4 base hits. Dusty Baker led off and got things going
when he banged out a single. Jay Johnstone was next and he smacked a single.
Roger Freed then singled. Terry Whitfield got his chance to keep things
going, but he went down on strikes. Cesar Geronimo stepped into the box and
worked the squeeze play to perfection. Junior Moore added to the rally and
laced a base-knock. Moore took second on the throw. Honey Brook banged out
7 hits on the night.
The win was credited to Ray Burris(4-6) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Pete Falcone earned the save, his 1st. J.R. Richard(5-5) ended up with
the loss.

Steve Garvey knocked 3 homeruns as the Elverson Squires defeated the Eagle
Eagles 5-3 at French Creek Park.
Garvey was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 3rd inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park
in the 5th inning and ripped a solo home run in the 7th inning. Elverson had
a total of 10 hits for the game.
The victory went to Ed Halicki(4-5) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. Halicki got relief help from Mike Garman who gained credit for his 9th
save. Mike Krukow(0-2) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in
his 5 innings of work.

The Chester Springs club offense put up 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 8th
inning and got by the Lionville ballclub 6-4.
Chester Springs came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning when they
tallied 5 runs on 5 hits. The key at-bat was by Rick Monday who brought a
roar from the partisan Historic Village Park fans when he laced a single
scoring two baserunners. Chester Springs finished with 8 hits in the
victory.
Dale Murray(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Murray got help from Charlie Hough who earned his 13th save. The
losing pitcher was Max Leon(3-2) in relief. He gave up 2 hits and 2 walks
without retiring a batter.
