One run was the difference at Great Valley Stadium as the Devault Dynamiters
defeated the Guthriesville Golddiggers 4-3.
Devault had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning plating 3
runs using 5 hits. Del Unser got things going when he laced a one-base hit.
After an out was recorded, Dave Kingman stepped in and he stroked a single.
Kingman took second on the throw. Bill Robinson then doubled. Gary Carter
came up and he singled. Darrell Evans came up to bat and drew a walk. Bill
Russell did his part to keep things going and ripped a base-knock. Overall
Devault out-hit Guthriesville 9-3.
The win was credited to Rich Gossage(3-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Kent Tekulve(2-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. He
surrendered 3 runs and 4 hits in 1 inning.

Richie Hebner smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Historic Village Park as the
Glenmoore Stableboys won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Chester
Springs team 7-5.
Glenmoore came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning when
they tallied 5 runs on 6 hits. The big moment was provided by Hebner who
silenced Historic Village Park as he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run. Glenmoore banged out 12 hits on the afternoon.
John Urrea(6-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Gene Garber earned his 6th save. Tom Seaver(5-5) absorbed
the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 8 and 1/3 innings.
'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Seaver said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'

In a one-sided affiar at Four Dogs Field the final score was the Eagle Eagles
6, the Marshallton Mad Hatters 1.
Eagle took the lead for good in the top of the 2nd inning with 2 runs on 3
hits. Dave Parker started the inning off right when he tripled. Felix
Millan was next and he laced a base-hit. Ed Herrmann then laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Tom Underwood then let one get away for a wild pitch.
Darrel Chaney came up to bat and lashed a single. That was all the runs Pat
Zachry(2-6) needed. Eagle totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.
Zachry was helped out by Dick Ruthven who recorded his 4th save.
Underwood(4-4) ended up with the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 7 hits in 7 and
1/3 innings.

In an entertaining game at French Creek Park the final score was the Elverson
Squires 5, the Honey Brook Beekeepers 2.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning Elverson went on top for good scoring a single
run. Al Oliver drew a walk. Dave Freisleben then let one slip out of his
hand for a wild pitch. Freisleben then threw a pitch that the catcher
muffed. Steve Garvey followed and he would ground out. Mike Schmidt
followed, but he was set down on strikes. Joe Ferguson added to the outburst
and banged out a single. Elverson managed only 6 hits on the afternoon.
Bob Forsch(4-4) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Al Hrabosky earned
the save, his 4th. Freisleben(1-5) took the loss. He gave up 5 hits and 5
walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
LIONVILLE AT KIMBERTON

In a good matchup it was the Kimberton Firefighters 7, the Lionville club 5 in
11 innings at Kimberton Fairground.
The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. Kimberton ended up winning it
in the 11th inning. Jerry Grote kicked off the action when he drew a walk.
Two outs later Bob Watson stepped in and he drew a walk. Steve Henderson
then lofted a three-run bomb giving Kimberton the win and sending the home
town fans into a frenzy. Lionville out-hit Kimberton 15-5, but Kimberton
ended up with more runs.
Skip Lockwood(3-2) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Joe
Sambito(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning
and surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk.
