The Glenmoore Stableboys had an easy time of it at Bentley Stadium defeating
the Kimberton Firefighters 8-3.
 
John Montefusco(4-3) had a fairly solid outing.  He went 6 innings
surrendering 8 hits and no walks.  Glenmoore finished with 9 hits in the
victory.  
 
Pedro Borbon earned his 2nd save.  Eric Rasmussen(5-4) was the loser.  He
allowed Glenmoore 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings of work.

Bob Boone had 2 base hits as the Chester Springs ballclub defeated the
Guthriesville Golddiggers 2-1 at Hopewell Field.
 
Chester Springs came up with 2 runs in the top of the 4th inning.  Gary
Thomasson led off and started the rally when he ripped a single.  Boone was
next and he tripled.  John Stearns then hit a sacrifice fly.  Neither team
managed to score after the 4th inning.  
 
Phil Niekro(7-3) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Niekro got
help from Charlie Hough who earned his 14th save.  The loss was charged to
Larry Christenson(3-6).  He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings and surrendered just 4
hits and 1 walk.
 
Gary Scott was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing 
games' he said.  'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
 
EAGLE AT HONEY BROOK

Jerry Koosman recorded a complete game shutout as the Honey Brook Beekeepers
defeated the Eagle Eagles 3-0 at The Nest.
 
Koosman(5-6) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Eagle offense.  He
surrendered only 5 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.78.
Honey Brook rapped out 11 hits for the night.  
 
Rick Reuschel(5-2) ended up with the loss.  He surrendered 3 hits and 5 walks
in 4 and 2/3 innings.
 
MARSHALLTON AT ELVERSON

In a game at French Creek Park the Marshallton Mad Hatters got by the Elverson
Squires 4-1.
 
Bob Shirley(7-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He allowed no hits
and 5 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.16 to 2.93.
Marshallton had a total of 9 hits for the game.  
 
Buddy Schultz recorded his 3rd save.  Doug Rau(5-5) was charged with the loss.
He allowed 4 runs and 9 hits in 9 innings.

1,006 fans were treated to a fine game at Foster Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Lionville team were able to stop
their 5 game losing streak and won by the slimmest of margins, 5-4.
 
Devault was unable to claim the lead after Lionville went ahead in the bottom
of the 4th inning scoring one runner on 2 base hits.  Ken Reitz lined a
base-hit.  After an out was recorded, Martin was safe at second on a stolen
base.  Chris Speier was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Joe Morgan
followed and he slapped a single.  Morgan took second on the throw.  The
score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times.  
 
Ron Reed(3-3) was the winner allowing no runs in 3 innings. Jackie Brown(2-4)
was the losing pitcher.  He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 8 hits
and 4 walks.
