Tom Seaver went the distance and right fielder Dave Winfield had 2 base hits
and 3 RBI as the Chester Springs club topped the Devault Dynamiters by a
score of 10-2 at Historic Village Park.
 
Seaver(13-8) looked very much in control throughout the night.  He allowed
just 7 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  Chester Springs totaled 15 hits on
the night.  
 
Jon Matlack(11-7) was tagged with the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.  
 
KIMBERTON AT EAGLE

Third baseman Pete Rose had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at Hickory Park where the
Eagle Eagles beat the Kimberton Firefighters 7-4.
 
Eagle brought 5 runs across the plate in the 4th inning when they had 3 base
hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Rose who made the crowd happy
when he lashed a single which was good for two runs.  Although they lost,
Kimberton did out-hit Eagle 14-11.  
 
The win went to Don Stanhouse(6-6) who allowed 4 runs in 8 and 1/3 innings.
Wayne Twitchell(6-7) was given the loss.  He got hit pretty hard, allowing 7
hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.  
 
GUTHRIESVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

800 fans were treated to a fine game at Four Dogs Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end.  The Marshallton Mad Hatters won by
the slimmest of margins, 3-2 over the Guthriesville Golddiggers.
 
Buddy Schultz(5-3) gave a fine effort for Marshallton.  He went 6 and 2/3
innings and surrended up 5 hits and 3 walks.  Schultz mowed down 7
Guthriesville batters.  Guthriesville had a chance in the 9th but they came
up short.  
 
Rollie Fingers got the save, his 22nd.  Grant Jackson(6-5) was hit with the
loss in relief.  'Some losses are harder to take than others' Gary Scott
lamented after the game.  'This was one of them.'

Shortstop Dave Concepcion had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Glenmoore Stableboys
ballclub embarrassed the Honey Brook Beekeepers by the count of 17-7.
 
Concepcion had a good evening at the plate.  He lined a base-hit in the 1st
inning, lined a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, smashed a two-run homer in
the 4th inning and stroked a single bringing in a run in the 6th inning.
Glenmoore kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning with 4 runs.
Offensively, Glenmoore was a juggernaut.  They scored in 6 separate innings.
 
The victory was credited to John Urrea(13-6) who went 5 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. The losing pitcher was Dave Freisleben(2-12).  He gave up 3
hits and 5 walks in 1 and 2/3 innings.

Chris Speier touched them all and had 4 RBI as the Lionville ballclub bested
the Elverson Squires 13-4 at French Creek Park.
 
The Elverson fans didn't appreciate the big day Speier had.  He doubled in the
5th inning, doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond in the 6th inning
and delivered a solo blast in the 9th inning.  Lionville dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.  
 
Steve Carlton(15-8) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Doug Rau(8-11) was charged with the loss.  Lionville knocked him around a
bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
