8/24/77: Lionville Tops Elverson, 8-4, as Speier Hits 3-Run Double

Tiger-Cats manager Jon Brams:

Mid-game heroics turned this one around for us. Garvey singles home the lead run in the 5th, but Dawson throws out Mazzilli at the plate to prevent further damage. There's a collision on the play at home, and Ott does a sensational job holding on to the ball. Then in our half of the 6th, Speier comes up with the sacks loaded and 2 outs. I thought about pinch-hitting with Gonzalez, but Chris already had a couple of hits, and he's been hot lately. Good call. Chris clears them off with a huge double, and it's pretty smooth sailing from that point on. Swan did alright, especially in the early going, setting down the first 9 he faced. He deserved the win, his first in more than 2 months.
