In a game at The Nest the Guthriesville Golddiggers got by the Honey Brook
Beekeepers by the score of 4-1.
 
Guthriesville came up with 3 runs in the 4th inning when they had 3 base hits.
The highlight belonged to Don Kessinger who silenced the stadium when he
doubled plating two runs.  Guthriesville ended up with 10 hits for the game
while Honey Brook had 6.  
 
The victory went to Larry Christenson(1-3) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Ken Forsch recorded his 5th save.  The losing pitcher was Ray
Burris(2-5).  He surrendered 10 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings.  
 
 
KIMBERTON AT DEVAULT

At Great Valley Stadium the Devault Dynamiters outscored the Kimberton
Firefighters 5-2.
 
Devault claimed the early lead in the first inning plating one baserunner on 3
base hits.  Garry Maddox slapped a one-base hit.  After an out was recorded,
Rod Gilbreath came up and he delivered a base-hit.  One out later, Dave
Kingman stepped in and he delivered a solo blast.  Bill Robinson was a
strikeout victim, unable to help out.  Devault finished with 9 hits in the
victory.  
 
The winning pitcher was Jon Matlack(5-1) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Bruce Sutter gained credit for his 9th save.  Eric Rasmussen(1-5)
was hit with the loss.  
 
The Devault ballclub's record now stands at 19-21. With the loss, the
Kimberton ballclub's record is 18-22.

Gary Thomasson had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Chester Springs ballclub topped the
Eagle Eagles by a score of 3-0 at Historic Village Park.
 
Jerry Reuss(4-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He allowed just 6
hits and no walks in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.19 to 3.65.  Eagle
went down without a fight in the 9th.  
 
Charlie Hough recorded the save, his 9th.  Rick Reuschel(4-3) was the losing
pitcher.  He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 10 hits and 1 walk.

Johnny Bench had 4 hits and 4 RBI at French Creek Park where the Glenmoore
Stableboys beat the Elverson Squires 13-4.
 
Bench had a good evening at the plate.  He lined a single scoring a run in the
1st inning, doubled knocking in a run in the 6th inning, cleared the fences
for a two-run home run in the 6th inning and lashed a one-base hit in the 8th
inning.  Elverson was out-hit by Glenmoore, 17 hits to 7.  
 
Bill Bonham(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Jim Barr(4-4) absorbed the loss.  He allowed Glenmoore 9
runs in 5 and 2/3 innings of work.  
 
 
LIONVILLE AT MARSHALLTON

The Lionville team put 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 5th inning and toppled
the Marshallton Mad Hatters by a 7-3 score at Four Dogs Field.
 
Ted Simmons enjoyed a fine evening at the plate.  He doubled bringing in two
baserunners in the 3rd inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 5th inning.
Both teams ended up with 8 hits on the night.  
 
The win went to Burt Hooton(5-2) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Brent
Strom(3-3) was charged with the loss.  Lionville scored big getting 7 runs
off him in 4 and 1/3 innings.
