In a good matchup it was the Eagle Eagles 6, the Honey Brook Beekeepers 4 at
Hickory Park.
 
Pat Zachry(4-2) pitched well for Eagle in their victory.  He went 7 innings
and surrended up 8 hits and 3 walks.  Honey Brook had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.  
 
Randy Moffitt gained credit for his 12th save.  Jerry Koosman(4-2) was the
loser.  He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits and 1 walk.
 
When questioned about the loss, Chris McLaughlin said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there this afternoon.  Unfortunately, we couldn't get it
done this time.  Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the
smiles.'
 
ELVERSON AT MARSHALLTON, 1st

In a thriling finish the Marshallton Mad Hatters pulled off the win over the
Elverson Squires by a score of 4-3 at Four Dogs Field.
 
The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning.  After an out was
recorded, Roger Metzger drew a walk.  Ken Griffey stepped up to the plate and
he doubled giving Marshallton the victory as 893 happy fans celebrated
wildly.  Marshallton totaled 7 hits on the afternoon.  
 
Rawly Eastwick(2-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Doug Rau(3-4) was tagged with the loss.  He surrendered 7
hits and 6 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.
 
CHESTER SPRINGS AT GLENMOORE

In a close game it was the Chester Springs team 4, the Glenmoore Stableboys 2
at Bentley Stadium.
 
In the 2nd inning Chester Springs went on top for good when they scored 2 runs
on 2 hits.  Glenmoore tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.  
 
The winning pitcher was Tom Seaver(4-1) who allowed 2 runs in 8 and 1/3
innings. Charlie Hough was credited with his 8th save.  The loss was charged
to Don Gullett(1-3).

Catcher Vic Correll hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Marshallton Mad Hatters
topped the Elverson Squires by a score of 5-1 at Four Dogs Field
 
Marshallton jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating an
isolated run utilizing 2 base hits.  Marshallton managed 9 hits in their
victory.  
 
Brent Strom(3-2) got the win allowing no runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Adrian
Devine recorded the save, his 4th.  The losing pitcher was Nino
Espinosa(0-1).  He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3
innings.  
 
 
KIMBERTON AT GUTHRIESVILLE

In a game at Hopewell Field the Kimberton Firefighters got by the
Guthriesville Golddiggers by the score of 5-2.
 
Guthriesville was unable to recover after Kimberton went ahead in the 3rd
inning scoring a single run.  For the game Kimberton out-hit Guthriesville 11
to 8.  
 
The win was credited to Fred Norman(1-5) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs.
Norman got help from Skip Lockwood who earned his 6th save.  Steve
Rogers(2-4) ended up with the loss.  
 
 
DEVAULT AT LIONVILLE

The Lionville ballclub registered 6 runs in the 2nd inning and had very little
trouble at Foster Field downing the Devault Dynamiters.  The score was 8-1.
 
In the bottom of the 2nd inning Lionville scored 6 runs with the help of 7
hits.  That was all the runs Bruce Kison(4-1) needed.  Lionville had 12 hits
for the night while Devault had 8.  
 
Woodie Fryman(3-2) was hit with the loss.  He surrendered 5 runs and 5 hits in
1 inning.
